Re: Create new part in the working directory from the VB interface?

What I need quickly is a simple VB program that will do the following:

  • initialize a session, a new model and a new solid part
  • create a simple solid object such as an extrusion
  • save the result in a new part file
  • as an extra bonus it would be nice to create two solids and save them to an assembly.

Somebody who knows hos to do it?

Yes, one can choose it as an option during installation of Creo.

Ok, so I tried a case study to see what additional capabilities you can have.  There are some analysis tools available.  So as long as your analysis can work within a parametric 2D sketch with the following analysis tools then you should be good:

Nevermind; I spoke too soon.  Looks like there's no way to save the analysis to the case study.

Got the solution.

Can't control my hidden lines

Hello,

I'm pretty new to Creo and was modeling a birdcage. I'm not really sure when this happened but the surface lines all dissappeared and look clear while the hidden lines are the only thing that show.

I've been trying to find how to reverse this process but can only find topics regarding hidden line properties within a drawing.

Any help would be appreciated.

A picture of the problem is attached.

Alright, well, not sure if I changed or not but the problem just went away. It was happening to that one part for a few days now.

I decided to reassemble my birdcage, just in case it was something I messed up in Assembly, opened the part into the new assembly. Gave up immediately and closed it out. Then the part was loaded in the active window fixed.

Magic.

If all you want to do is view the values of the overall size of the items, then create a table on a drawing of the assembly with a repeat region and use asm... mbr...  then User Defined and enter mc_size

This will list, in one cell on your table the size of the models.

If you want to split it out into x y and z components it will become a little more complicated!

Well...it was interesting. Yesterday in discussing this with our CAD admins, I happened to mention that some other co-workers (myself included) were losing the view break lines and splines from partial sections in screen view (the lines did print). The CAD admin mentioned they had a patch to fix that. So on a hunch I let him run the patch and voila...the broken projection view issue was fixed as well. So I'm good to go and appreciate your response.

How to check model parameter type on J-Link (String, int, etc.)

I was looking to export the x, y, z into individual cells but I will probably be able to export the mc_size list as a .csv file and work some excel wizardry on it to split them up.

EDIT: mc_size doesn't work for me.  Does this have to be a parameter in each part?

There is another option for using an analysis feature, but it only works if the feature is in a assembly then pushed down to the parts.  To do that you would us model inputs.  You have to create a parameter in the part file that the analysis will drive, then specify in the parts programing that the parameter will be driven by an input.

To do that open the programing of the part and specify the driven parameter as an input.inputs.png

Then in the assembly write an execute statement for the part to be controled.

EXECUTE.png

Execute statements need to be written after the "relations" portion of the programing and before the "model" information.

Again this only works if the analysis feature is in the assembly and being pushed to a lower level part.

Re: Hole Notes in Creo 2.0

Thanks for the help...  Being the only one that works with Creo, I chose to create new hole files for the threads & c'bores that I use.  I've done this successfully so far, but would like to change the callout in my c'bore hole file to display in fractions instead of decimals.

Is it possible to do this with just the c'bore hole file?

Thanks,

Matt

Problems with Free Creo Elemants Direct Mode software

Hi!

I'm using the free version of Creo to design a car that I'm building. The program has been workin fine until just now. When I try to start the program I get the following messages: " 'vport1' frozen due to Graphics Error" and when I press the OK-button I get the following: "Action failed create_vp/signal/sigsgv". When I then press "OK" in the message box I can't do anything. I guess the viewport is "stuck" or not working... as you can understand I'm not a computer geek... Was in teh 80's though. I bet there aren't many in here who used 3D CAD in the late 80's!?

Anyway, any help to be able to continue using the software to continue my car design is highly appreciated.

If the entry in the table for the field is a string rather than a numeric value, it should be able to do accept fractional -representations-.  By the same token, you should be able to neter drill size numbers such as "#39".

I wonder if you can add new columns and have them default to a string value by entering fractions.

Can you give that a try and see if that works?
