If you would be so kind as to file an SPR requesting that the rotate tool snap to V/H, I can look into getting it done. Seems like a clear improvement, and quick to write, so I'd just be contingent on getting approval.

Cheers Matthew. I did open a call with PTC, I will ask the engineer to create an SPR for that call.
Sheet metal problem
Hi, I have a problem with the student version of Creo, when I work in sheet metal and try to make a hole with the hole command at the piece I'm modeling I have the problem that the software crashes, how can I fix it?
How can I get the appropriate size of this section drawing?

Re: help!
Creo is NOT a native MAC application and you cannot run it under Mac OS.
You will need to install a Windows emulator on your MAC and run that, then install Creo to your WIndows VM.
If you really want a native MAC CAD check out Siemens NX product, it has been native Mac OS for many years and is what Apple uses.
should you use mirror in creo?
A company I worked for a while back used mirror all the time, the product we were making had to be symmetrical and if you didn't use mirror you did double the work if you wanted to change a feature and the possibility of not having the product symmetrical if you missed something. The company that I work for now actually contracted with this same company to model one of their product frond on mirroring and actual reprimanded you if you used mirror and said it should NEVER be used at all. Who is correct?
Why does decorated text lose decorations in PDF exports?
I am new to Creo Schematics 3.0. When I export to PDF, I find that my decorated text loses all decorations; i.e., my circled text is no longer circled. In addition, I find that circles drawn with Geometry's Circle tool are not rendered as complete circles: each is missing an identical section, that from 270 to 360 degrees. The missing sections are there when I zoom in with Creo.
What export settings might be incorrect? For the decorated text, is this a font-specific error?
Re: should you use mirror in creo?
If your company will issue reprimands for using the mirror feature, and if it's a written internal policy, then I would not use it. It's hard to believe a company would lower itself to such a standard as that. The mirror tool is a great feature to have, especially for manufacturing right-hand (RH) and left-hand (LH) aircraft components. Many times I have received a LH component, the RH needs to be manufactured. You bet I'm going to use the mirror tool, instead of trying to re-create all that geometry.
If you're very proficient in mirroring, perhaps you could make a presentation on some of the models and show a cost-savings to management. Maybe they will allow mirroring, after all, they want to see savings ($$$$$). Right?
Re: Use of integrated Simulate functions in Creo Parametric 3.0
I do not have a student version of Creo, but Creo Parametric comes with Creo Simulate Lite at no extra charge, and I think this is what comes with the student version. This found under the model setup (commercial version). Once you select OK, the process guide will activate. If you have a student version, there is an academic support group in the community.
Re: should you use mirror in creo?
Thank you, actually the company that I work for now lost them as a client because of us not allowing mirroring. You can kind of see this as a cost savings or a good source of revenue to maintain this customer if only we weren't so closed minded and listen to the customer needs.
Thank you again for your input and I'll use this as a good argument as I know it will come up gain.

Re: space letters .500 tall
Are you trying to make letters with the sketching tool or are you trying to make them in drawing mode?
Re: should you use mirror in creo?
There are different kinds of mirroring. I personally never use feature mirrors because they limit how the parent feature can be redefined. If you want to redimension the parent sketch to change the references, you must delete the child (mirror) feature before you are allowed. I can understand why a company would want to prohibit this specific kind of mirroring.
Mirroring geometry, however, is a very powerful tool and I use it all of the time. I'll either build the part in half, and then mirror the part by selecting the part at the top of the tree and then selecting the mirror command. This is very robust and flexible. I also will mirror datum features and quilts. If I need to mirror a subset of geometry, I'd prefer to copy those surfaces, mirror them and then solidify the mirror. This gets around the limitations listed above. Saving parts as a mirrored version, geometry dependant, is also very robust.
Until PTC removes the limitation with feature mirroring (or any kind of dependant copying), I'd recommend limiting its use.
Re: Drawing Program User Guide, Tutorial and Hands-On Workshop
The arrangement and setup of symbols and the ability to update them is a whole different can of worms.
For this example of only using symbols in drawing programs, the symbols must at least be in the drawing memory.
For example the symbol star.sym might be in the folder that the config option pro_symbol_dir points to, but it can not, (by can not I mean I don't know how), be called by the note &sym(<symbol name>).
So as far as I know you will need to add all the symbols to the drawing if you want to call them with a note.
Re: Drawing Program User Guide, Tutorial and Hands-On Workshop
Oh, I see: I insert them all in the drawing and then make them disappear or (reappear if they are erased).
I will try tomorrow, I hope, if my time will allow me.
Now I am stuck with the propagation of a parameter form the assy to the parts: why doesn't an assy parameter is not used in the Pro/Program of a part in the assy?
Re: Drawing Program User Guide, Tutorial and Hands-On Workshop
you can just add them then delete them. After that you can call them in the note.
Repeat Region Relation to Differentiate Between Contexts
My company has one Windchill context for Libraries and one for Products. I'd like to write a Repeat Region relation that would differentiate between contexts and populate a drawing's BOM accordingly.
For example, if the assembly member comes from the Products context, I'd like the asm.mbr.name set to a parameter. If the assembly member comes from the Libraries context, I'd like the asm.mbr.name to be just that.
Something along the lines of...
IF
asm.mbr.PTC_WM_LOCATION==/Products
asm.mbr.name=A relation-driven parameter in the part
ELSE
asm.mbr.name
Does anyone have a suggestion for how to access the PTC_WM... parameters?
