Re: Trial version?

Did you get your academic version through a reseller or directly from PTC?

If so, you could try to get them to get in contact with a person at PTC.

One would think PTC has an interest in having happy customers.

Anyone in tech support monitoring this thread?

Exporting step files for instances in a family table

A machining fixture was designed for machining some of our production parts. There are numerous configurations (approximately 25) for the way the fixture can be set up depending upon part length and holes required. This was all designed into the fixture with movable (doweled) holders and supports using family tables. The fixture is done and now we are having an outside firm do the programming for the machining. They have SolidWorks and not Creo. Is there an easy way to export step files for each instance or does each one need to be opened and a new step file created.

This is not a frequent thing, so if they all need to be open and a step file created, that's OK. Since it doesn't happen frequently, I am not looking at writing a program or anything like that. I just wasn't sure if I was missing a simple way to create multiple step files of the various instances.
Thanks, Dale

Maybe a quick mapkey to do all the button pushing for you.

The only way to view/export the instance it to physically open it in Creo.

There would be other options if you had Windchill....

Is there anyway to go back to the creo2 text editor style for notes?

I just manually retyped this entire picture and tried it.  No issues.  Print dialog pops up, choose okay, then the print preview automatically closes.

I wonder if there is something in your environment that is causing the issue.  Maybe try doing a clean startup with no config options set and only this mapkey loaded.

I just tried that, no difference. Running the mapkey will not close the 'Print Preview'. I am back working with Creo Elements 5 for the foreseeable future, so i will have to try figure this out later i guess.

Thanks for the help up until now.

Component Display in Drawing not working.

In Creo 2 Parametric, I'm having an odd issue.  I've done this a thousand times in the past without issue, but for some reason, it is no longer working.

In an assembly drawing, I'm attempting to use component display to blank and change some components to phantom transparent, but after I select the components and style, nothing happens.  The assembly remains unchanged.

Is there a new config setting I'm missing in Creo 2?

I wonder if the graphics driver software has some sort of window priority application running, John.

Tom, thanks for going through the confirmation that this "shoiuld" work.

I have had to regen and even re-open the drawing in some versions for the entire change to take place.

AFTER SELECTING THE OBJECTS I ALWAYS HAVE TO CLICK "DONE" FOR THAT STYLE TO APPLY. IF I JUST CENTER CLICK OUT OF IT, IT WONT APPLY THE SETTINGS.

I thought the same thing, but it still remains unchanged.

That's the way i've been doing it Joe.  It's really odd.  I've even tried it across multiple assembly drawings.  No dice.

Is there something special done to this component such as assembly cuts or whatever?  You could try to add the part to a test assembly and open it in a drawing to see if it functions correctly.

I have not run into limitation as yet with this function, but you may have found one.

Feel free to post the components; let us know the version it came from; and to know if it is from the full or academic version.

If you have maintenance, of course, open a support case and have PTC look at it too.

also I found something that might lead us to a solution. If I create the same mapkey but instead of a leader note, I use a Balloon Note, it works just fine.

and changing the min and max size of balloons is not an option; well for this situation.

thank you for all the help so far!

mapkey y @MAPKEY_NAMEBALLOON;@MAPKEY_LABELBALLOON;\

mapkey(continued) ~ Activate `main_dlg_cur` `page_Annotate_control_btn` 1;\

mapkey(continued) ~ Command `ProCmdDwgCreateBallon` ;#MAKE NOTE;#ARROW HEAD;\

mapkey(continued) @PAUSE_FOR_SCREEN_PICK;@PAUSE_FOR_SCREEN_PICK;&piecemark:att;;#DONE/RETURN;

Printing In Creo View

When I open a drawing in Creo View and want to print, I can send it to our plotter printer fine, just not to our networked office printer which is a HP Laserjet P3011. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers and installing via ip address to no avail. It is specific to this one workstation. Any suggestions?

Hey Lawrence -

Thanks for the PM. Unclear why the links were changed from your original post, did you edit the post at all after pressing 'Add Reply'? Did you happen to hit the back button after posting? I'm just trying to remove any senarios in which you returned to the post and the editor removed the links for you.

Any community member with a support-enabled account should be able to view and post links to PTC Community Product Ideas. If you're unable to see Product Ideas while under a support-enabled account please email community@ptc.com so we can work on solving the issue directly.

Thanks all.
