Re: Balloons

It might be different depending on how balloons are added.  But generically, it is an attached note.

Here is the Creo 2.0 interface.  Note that with all entity selection, the CTRL key is held down.

I think that balloons generated from the BOM table might work differently.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for your help.

I think that I gonna give up of the automatic printer selection for now.

If I can´t use a pcf file to control the printer, I will create a mapkey using the Ms Printer Manager and then call a script to automate the process.

Oh I don't doubt that for a minute.  That is another reason I don't use them

Arbitrary part names with STEP-export

Does anyone know if it is possible during a STEP-export to automatically change the original part- and assembly names to something arbitrary like a series of numbers instead?

Thanks

You can change the file name to anything you like, but you first have to select the step extension and then change the file name. (Manually)

Thanks for the reply!

Maybe I was not totally clear in my description - what I am looking for is when someone opens the STEP-file the names in the model tree should be something arbitrary like AB01, AB02, AB03...

like i always do in the similar sinario. copy the generic to other folder for later use

open the assembly and the 2d drawing, and replace the instance in the 2d and assemby with the generic one, and than open the generic and choose edit and copy the instance to generic.

now the assembly and the 2d are using the independent instance.

it is what you want?

Force regeneration

Hi,

is there any way how to guarantee the regeneration of a model before check-in?

We have a lot of derived parameters in our parts and assemblies (via relations).
But our designers often forgot to regenerate model. So the parameters are incorrect or obsolete.

You might be able to do this by using the grid and placing one GTOL over the top of another.  Then you use Jog to square up the leaders.

EFX: Adding new Tube Profiles

Hello there,

I'm using Creo 2.0 and EFX to design a formula student team chassis. We are wanting to add our own tube profiles. I've added new files into C:\Program Files\PTC\Creo 2.0\Common Files\M020\efx\parts\profiles\steel_beams_mm and C:\Program Files\PTC\Creo 2.0\Common Files\M020\efx\parts\bend_profiles\steel_beams_mm but that hasnt worked. Is there any sort of documentation to help with this?

Cheers

Will

I think you missed the original point.

THERE SHOULD BE NO CONDITION IN ANY RELEASE OF ANY SOFTWARE THAT CAUSES IT TO EXIT.

After 16 years of hearing "it will all be better in the next release" I don't think its going to happen.

If 95% of customers experience a catastrophic failure every 2 months for more than a decade, I think there might be an issue. Just imagine your car or phone was that unreliable.

I would rather have a crash than a corrupted file.  Not all crashes happened because PTC is tripping over itself.  I crashed quite a few times yesterday when I was exploring new commands.  Once I got use to the command, it stopped crashing.  Go figure.

Creo 2.0 - Q: Is the flat state easier to create in PTC Creo than in Wildfire 5?

This is a question answered by PTC from a webinar PTC Creo 2.0 in Action!

14. Q: Is the flat state easier to create in PTC Creo than in Wildfire 5?

A: The unbend and flat pattern tools have been greatly improved to facilitate the creation of the flat states. Single button action to create a flat pattern family table instance or part simplified rep to show in detailing.

Is there really a single button action to create simplified rep of flat pattern which can be shown in drawing?
