"Place Using Interface" not working (creo 2.0 parametric)

$

When placing the same part twice, Wildfire 5 was smart enough to remember the constraints from first placement and I just had to select the new faces to constraint the new part to. However, in Creo 2.0 (M080), there seems to be an option to do the same in dashboard, but it's ghosted. Already defined constraints are ignored. Is there a hidden option in the new ribbon menu I did not enable, or is it a known issue in creo 2.0 parametric (M080) ?

Thanks for any pointers .

Creo View Express (problems)

I haven't used this much before. I want to solve one or both of these two problems:

  1. When I open a newly exported PVZ file in Creo View Express, I get annotation boxes floating in space. They look like tolerance notes and I have attached an image. Each one is tied to a part in an imported sub-assembly, but I'm not sure how to turn these off before creating the PVZ. I can turn them off in the Creo View Express options but I don't want them there to begin with since the files could be shared.
  2. Some part materials are not assigned when opening native Pro/E assemblies. They are replaced by shiny silver, which I think is the default material.

I'm primarily using Wildfire 5.

Thanks

Re: Exploded States, can you use an existing exploded state of a sub-assembly in a top level model?

This is possible when using the Default Explode. When activating the default explode of the top level assembly, also the default explode of the subassemblies are triggered.

Tip 1: Existing exploded views can be saved as Default Explode, no rework has to be done.

Tip 2: The default exploded state on the top level can be saved under a different name. This way in combination with Tip 1, multiple exploded states can be transferred to the top level (via the Default Explode)

To be honest I didn't even know PTC used this parameter in Wildfires. It is presented as a new enhancement in trainings for Creo Parametric, so apparently it's functionality has been enhanced in Creo and maybe previously it's been used to simply track which constraint set should be active in the assembly.

Re: Hidden lines show light on PDF but not on printouts

Thanks for the simple solution.  All I needed to do is go into system colors and change hidden lines to black and then PDF it out.  On the screen at that point the hidden lines blended with the black background so I just needed to remember when I was done to change them back to green.  Thanks again.

Can someone tell me how to bend unbend pipe in Sheetmetel.

Not knowing WF5 makes it hard to specify the exact steps, but in Creo it is managed in the Display Manager.  Actually, I think you have to save it to make it permanent.  These things are so convoluted it is hard to know exactly what all is affected when you do this, but there are several locations that you can toggle their state.  I'm pretty sure you can activate the column in the Model Tree to show its state as well.

Tubing is not sheetmetal.  You cannot use sheetmetal to bend or unbend tubing.

Antonius is correct.

Perhaps if you are talking about sheet metal that is rolled 360°, then you can use the sheet metal module.

Is there a way to set up a note with two leaders?

Yea there is. Select entity to which leader is suppose to point to ,hold ctrl and selct another one or more.

If the note is already placed with one leader you can edit the attachment and add a ref.  That will place the second leader.

Jeremy,

We had this same issue with some users at our company.  Here is the solution:

This problem is caused by a bug in the Intel graphics drivers - the CreoView print engine makes use of the graphics chip. Try setting the environment variable PV_OFF_SCREEN_SIZE_LIMIT on the client computer to a value of 2048. You will need to close and re-open Creo View after setting this variable, but it should solve your problem.

To set the environment variable, Right-click on Computer, then click Properties.  In the Properties window, select Advanced System Settings. Click on the Environment Variables button.  Under 'System Variables,' set the environment variable PV_OFF_SCREEN_SIZE_LIMIT to a value of 2048.

Hope this helps!

Hi,

I was looking at the system requirements after installing the 30 day free trial on vista and I noticed that Vista was not listed.

Is Vista supported by PTC?

Thnaks in advance,

Break external reference in Shrinkwrap?

Afternoon,

I've just simplified a customer assembly by replacing several of the sub-assys with shrinkwraps of themselves, and I'm now uploading these into Windchill.

Windchill has created a number of "incomplete CAD documents" (aka ghost objects), and after some painful investigations it appears that each shrinkwrap contains a reference to the assembly that it was created from.  This assembly obviously wasn't in session when I opened the top-level assembly to pull it into Windchill, and therefore doesn't exist in Windchill - hence the ghost.

Is there a way to edit each shrinkwrap .prt to break this link and leave it truly stand-alone?

Thanks!

Mohit,

I am sorry I do not know how to update model through family table using VB.NET.

They did make it a little better in Creo by adding "intent surface" but even that doesn't help much since it acts on features where now you have to separate the features when they are common.  It doesn't even recognize patterns.

Have you thought of just making the calculator an assembly?  Now you can select the object at the part level.

Re: Just moved to Creo 2.0 ...... I HATE IT!!! Does any else?

Ohh my god.

Just found another reason to really HATE creo.

The way it handles changes in config.pro options.

I have a set the option save display to NO.

So every time i open a drawing MADE with the option set to YES.

It does NOTHING.

IT opens the drawing with UN updated Views, even though my Config.pro options states i would like it to update.

SO now i have to update EVERY fu**ing drawing manually anyway, to be shure of its state.

Once updated, it WILL remember the new setting.

WTF

Now the thing that REALLY gets me, is the nod of silent approval i get from the "old" wf brigade.

They are actually USED to this kind of behavior ?????

Power system my arse.

Its NOT power, to have a system that CANNOT FOLLOW options.

Now dont get me wrong. I understand that the system does as its told.

I just cant believe the choises.. The lack of logik.. That makes this the preferred way to respect config settings.

This is EXCATLY like your car changing to reverse as you enter youre driveway, just because you reversed out of it last time you were here.

The RELLY fun part about this, is that ANYWHERE it WOULD be bennificial, to remember settings.

Like f. instance the hole manager, remembering the last hole, the constraint manager, remebering what panes to keep open and so on.

THERE Creo CANT remember.

LOOOOOL

This system is a JOKE

Look at your configuration (File>Help>System Information) and check all config.pro from Configuration files read:
